Our Partners
To operate the program in the individual states or countries, FIRST LEGO League (FLL) cooperates with entities we call Operational Partners. These are non-profits, universities and other non-governmental organizations that share our mission of stimulating children’s interest science and technology.
Each Operational Partner runs the program in their region. The Operational Partners agree to respect the philosophy and values of the program, as well as certain operational principles.
The role of the Operational Partners is to manage team registrations, recruit and support an enthusiastic volunteer network. Operational Partners also keep the national and international communication lines open, as well as finance the operational set-up in their region.

Starting a New FLL Region
When FLL adds a new country or region, it begins with a non-profit organization expressing interest in starting and managing the program in that region. We assess the level of interest using a set of criteria that the potential organization must meet. After about six months to a year of preparation, we establish a pilot program in the region. Upon successful completion of the pilot, the organization then moves to FLL Operational Partner status.
When it comes to expansion of FLL into new countries or regions FIRST and LEGO want to ensure success for the program, for the teams and the potential FLL Operational Partner.
